Instructions
Prepare the roast
Season the chuck roast with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet and sear the roast on all sides.
Sear evenly to lock in juices.
Prepare the slow cooker or oven

Assemble the ingredients

Add the liquid
Pour in the beef broth and maple syrup. Sprinkle with herbes de Provence.
Liquid should partially cover the roast.
Slow cook
Cover and cook for 6 to 8 hours in the slow cooker or 3 to 4 hours in the oven until the meat is tender.
Flip the meat halfway through for even flavor.
Rest and shred
Let the meat rest for 10 minutes before shredding with a fork.
This allows juices to redistribute.
